Week 75: Do Not Contact

Pretty tree

Monday, April 24, 2017

Hello everyone!

We were walking around and going to less active members' homes that we didn't know anything about and found out a lot of them were do not contacts... lol. We had some fun experiences with that. One guy was Hugh or something. He had blood around his lips and on his thumb and was saying we 19 year olds take his religion away and he got really defensive. He was pretty old so it wasn't too scary. We just start leaving and he just gets really angry and starts swearing at us. He had just said he was Christian a few seconds and now he is overcome with the devil! It was surely interesting. He wasn't the member we were looking for, though, just the husband of one. But, we won't be going back there...

We also found out an address was off by 20, by asking neighbors, but he was also a "Do Not Contact" and referred to the church as his mother's. :/.

When you contact a name and by the number you have and find out Missionaries got that number over 12 years ago and the number belongs to a member! Anyway, that member is Yolanda and she was baptized in her teens but life happened and it was easy not to come to church. The rest of her family are not members and her husband is not interested, so it will be interesting. We went there with our Ward Mission Leader, Brother Filio, though. He knows how to make people laugh, so we had some laughter... :)

Yes, so it was a good week!

The weather is nice!

Have a good week!

Week 74: Member Enthusiasm

Monday, April 17, 2017

Hello everyone!

Wow! A new family just moved in about 2 weeks ago. They are the Lehndorfers. They are already making new friends and inviting them to fun things like Mutual (youth activities). Their neighbors are actually very neighborly, too. We helped the Lehndorfers with their backyard because the last owners didn't maintain it really. We got a lot accomplished. However, I totally forgot sunscreen and it was a hot sunny day, so I got sunburned! Anyway, their neighbors came and lent us some needed tools.

Their neighborhood has lots of young families and we haven't really been there before, so we will start teaching there more. We do have a potential investigator in that neighborhood because we texted her number as it was on the phone.

That's always fun–finding people who are interested in meeting from a phone number you find with only a name for info.

Anyway, it was a fun week and I had a good Easter. Happy Easter!

I know that Christ lives and that he is real. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

P.S. Look at the Principles of Peace at Mormon.org! There are 8 cool videos about people using these principles for peace.

Week 73: The Holy Spirit Guides

Playing the organ in the chapel. I can play 'The Time is Far Spent' with both hands now

Monday, April 10, 2017

Wow! It is Easter this Sunday; it was Palm Sunday yesterday. The church came out with 9 videos for Easter a couple weeks ago. 8 of the videos discuss principles of peace we can learn from the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ. They are great!

Something cool about it was that we decided to go to this big family of less active members and nonmembers. Anyway, we talked to a woman there who had just been praying 10 minutes prior to our coming... She has made some mistakes, but she is changing and repenting. God sent us to her and we showed the video about repentance and it really hit her. It was very moving to see how perfect it was for her. I can't describe it in words.

I can't say this enough, but this is truly God's work. The Holy Spirit actually guides. Another experience was that we were looking for a house, but it wasn't there. The number was 1901, but as we were heading back to the car, I had the impression to go to another house, 1907. It came to my mind that maybe the missionaries meant that home? We knocked on the door and found out it was true! Wow! We said we would come later that night and we did and talked to some other family members. They have questions about God's nature.

Another time—again missionaries fault, but not entirely because it was weird how the house was situated—but we were at one place and a former investigator came to my mind, it wasn't his name, but the street he lived on. Anyway, I had the option of going right or left. Left looked less probable of where they would be. (This home couldn't be found on google maps.) but, I had the impression that I should go left and what's the harm. Anyway, it was correct. The only house there had the correct address. A side note—they have a grid system where they do #N### or west etc, but the address here just had the 3 numbers and no north or west. The road the house appeared it was on would have been west, but it was a north number.. so the address actually came from the other road. I looked later on Google Maps, and it doesn't recognize it haha. Anyway, I don't know if that makes sense, but there was a lady just about to enter the house. We said hey. She is a sister of the former investigator. She said she would come to church, but something came up. Anyway, she said her brother would be totally interested in our message, however he is in military school for 6 months.

Anyway, we had some fun stories this week. I KNOW this church is the church with the FULLNESS of the gospel and is CHRIST's CHURCH. The Spirit tells me it is true. This church actually makes sense.... it all makes sense! It is all so crazy! In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

Hey it's London!

Week 72 BLOG: No more biking..

Monday, April 3, 2017

181 years ago today (April 3), Elijah came and restored the keys for sealing families together forever.

Anyway, it was a great General Conference! If you didn't watch it, watch it at https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2017/04?lang=eng

We went on exchanges and I went to Schaumburg 2nd area with Elder Fia. It was nice because I got to drive "Mohanna" again, the Subaru Legacy 2017.

We went to an Asian restaurant and I had some nice curry. Yummy! Haha it was a little spicy and Elder Fia got some too, but he doesn't like spicy. Lol.

Another day, back with Elder Mateski, we were walking all day because Elder Mateski doesn't want to bike anymore. We nearly got killed too! We were crossing the intersection with lights and cars illuminating us, but we had dark clothing and this car honks at us and nearly splatters us. It was frightening! I don't know what was going through that person's mind..

Yup, so it was good week!

Have a nice week!
